Readying for the Northeast Grand Prix, Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez will take their #27 Hyundai Veloster N TCR Copeland Motorsports entry to Lime Rock Park. Taking on the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge as well as the seven corner 1.5-mile circuit, the teenage duo will aim for the podium and turn around their 2021 racing season.
After a challenging event three weeks ago, the teenage duo returned to the top-five on the results charts during the back end of a back-to-back weekend at Watkins Glen International despite breaking a tie rod late in the race. Crossing the stripe in the fourth position and happy with their pace, the duo celebrated before having their result stripped after a post-race weight inspection found them to be a few pounds shy of the legal limit.
“We are calling this redemption week,” explained Maxson. “We have been plagued with bad luck this season but can turn that around at Lime Rock Park. Armed with a virtually new car and the best crew in the paddock, the goal is a podium result at the minimum and that is what we will be shooting for.”
Tyler Gonzalez continued, “We owe it to the Copeland guys for all of their hard work and never give up attitude over the past few weeks. If it wasn’t for them, we would have never had the chance to race. They have their fair share of trackside pizza, and I would like nothing more to celebrate a win with them.”
With two practices on Friday prior to qualifying late in the day, the Lime Rock Park 120 will take place on Saturday morning with the green flag flying at 11:05am. Visit IMSA.com to view live timing and the live video stream in each and every on track session.
