Tyler Maxson and his Apex Capital branded TOPP Racing machine arrive at Watkins Glen International this weekend as the team to beat in the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America Pro class. Fresh from a hard-fought and dramatic race win at the Miami International Autodrome – their third victory of the season – Maxson and the TOPP crew head to the historic 3.4-mile New York road course with confidence, momentum, and a championship lead they are fully motivated to protect and extend.

The 2026 campaign has been a statement of intent from Maxson and TOPP Racing. The season opened with a dominant sweep of both races at Sebring International Raceway, and when rivals clawed the gap back to just five points heading into Miami, Maxson responded in the best possible way. Despite front splitter damage sustained in opening-lap chaos at Turn 1, he drove from tenth back to the front of the field to cross the line second – and when a post-race penalty was applied to the provisional race winner, Maxson was elevated to the top step of the podium. Three wins from the races available and a clear championship lead is the reward for his composure and pace through the opening rounds.

“Miami is never easy – that Turn 1 battle at the start made things interesting in a hurry,” reflected Maxson after the Miami result. “The TOPP crew gave me a great car all weekend long. Topping practice and showing the outright speed we had gives me a lot of confidence. We didn’t get the qualifying result we wanted, but we kept our heads down, stayed out of trouble when things went sideways, and got the result we deserved. Three wins in the books, and we’re pushing hard to keep this championship lead. The season is long but we’re in a great spot.”

That mindset carries directly into Watkins Glen. Watkins Glen International is one of the most revered road racing circuits in North America and a track with deep motorsport roots. Driving the #77 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup entry, Maxson has shown genuine pace in every round to date, and the TOPP Racing squad will be looking to convert that raw speed into a strong qualifying position and race victory at The Glen.

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America continues this weekend at Watkins Glen International, June 26–28, 2026. Tyler Maxson and TOPP Racing will be on track looking to add a fourth win of the season and push their championship advantage further heading into the second half of the year.
