Rebounding from a challenging start to the 2021 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series, Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez (TnT) are looking forward to continuing the rapid ascend up the motorsports ladder. Competing with the Copeland Motorsports program, the teenage duo will be back on track this coming weekend at the Watkins Glen International Raceway as they aim to secure their first win and podium result of this young season.

After claiming a top-five result at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Maxson and Gonzalez led laps and were in contention for the win until the late stages of the race. With momentum on their side, the duo will make their first start at the 3.4-mile, 11-turn facility in the Copeland Motorsports #27 entry. With back-to-back events at the New York facility, TnT are hoping that the challenging circuit starts their breakout for the 2021 season as they look for it to be the home of their first race win of the season.

“Watkins Glen has been a track that I have been looking forward to all season long,” explained Maxson. “I think we could have a really strong event and am excited about back-to-back races at the same track. We have the best pit stops in the series and that could be the determining factor for us when the checkered flag flies.”

Gonzalez added, “With two races at the same facility, the strategy will be different for both, with the first race double the length of the second event. We have a good package in our Hyundai Veloster N TCR and the Copeland Motorsports crew is second to none. Not only do we want to win to get the first one out of the way, I think we owe it to our crew and partners for all of their hard work and support.”

As part of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen weekend, Maxson and Gonzalez will hit the track Friday, June 25th for a pair of practice sessions before qualifying takes place later that afternoon. Saturday will be the home of the Tiger Downs Casino Resort 240, a four-hour race that takes the green flag at 2:05pm.
