Looking to build upon their momentum from their Lime Rock Park event three weeks ago, Tyler Maxson and Tyler Gonzalez are headed north to Road America with Copeland Motorsports for the IMSA Sportscar Weekend. Entering their #27 Hyundai Veloster N TCR, the duo will tackle the 4.014-mile course in the Road America 120.

Turning the page on their rocky start to the season, Maxson and Gonzalez had their best weekend to date, claiming both their first pole position and first podium result in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. After having speed all season long, the young duo has had a string of bad luck to open their season and are hoping that they are finally on track to finish out the season strong.

“It was great to secure both the team’s and our car’s first pole position,” explained Tyler Gonzalez. “The speed has been there all year long, but we have had some issues. Really, we should have four or five podiums this year, but things have not quite gone our way. Now, with some positive momentum, we will look to carry that onwards into the rest of the 2021 season.”

Maxson continued, “Tyler and I make a good combination, and the Hyundai Veloster N is as good as any other car in the series. We have a team that is second to none and partners that are assisting us this season. Road America is one of my favorite tracks, and I know with some hard work, and maybe a little luck, we could climb to the top step of the podium.”

The weekend will kick off on Friday, August 6th with one morning practice session. Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning and the Road America 120 will begin later that afternoon at 5:35pm. Visit IMSA.com to view live timing and the live video stream in each and every on-track session.
