Tyler Maxson and TOPP Racing return to Porsche Carrera Cup North America competition this weekend for Round Five of the 2026 championship, joining the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for a major weekend of sports car racing at Road America, July 30–August 1. After building a strong points advantage through the opening rounds of the season, Maxson arrives in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, leading the Pro class championship standings and looking to continue his momentum across a busy three-race weekend.
The 4.048-mile Road America circuit presents one of the most demanding challenges on the Porsche Carrera Cup North America calendar with long straights, high-speed corners, significant elevation changes and a makeup race from the cancelled event at the Miami Grand Prix. With championship points on the line in all three wheel-to-wheel races, every session will carry added importance for Maxson and the TOPP Racing team.
Maxson has been a consistent front-runner throughout the 2026 campaign, collecting four victories to date, including a Sebring sweep and a come-from-behind win at the Grand Prix of Miami. Most recently, Maxson delivered a dominant performance at Watkins Glen International, securing pole position for both races, setting the fastest lap in each event and converting his race two pole into a wire-to-wire victory.
That performance helped Maxson maintain his position at the top of the Pro class championship standings heading into Round Five. The weekend will feature the regularly scheduled races one and two on Friday, followed by a makeup race for Miami’s race two on Saturday. With three races on the schedule, Maxson and TOPP Racing will look to maximize every opportunity and further strengthen their championship position.
“Road America is an important weekend for us in the championship,” said Maxson. “We’ve put ourselves in a strong position through the first four rounds, but there’s still a lot of racing ahead. The goal is to keep scoring big points and put together three strong races. The team has worked incredibly hard all season, and we’re ready to keep pushing and extend our lead.”
Round Five will begin with two practice sessions and qualifying on Thursday. Friday will kick off the racing action, with race one and race two going green at 10:25 AM ET and 2:45 PM ET, respectively. Saturday’s Miami race two makeup race at Road America will wrap up the weekend, going green at 8:50 AM ET. Races will be available to watch live on the Porsche Motorsport North America and IMSA Official YouTube channels. Maxson and TOPP Racing will look to maintain their place at the front of the Pro class as the 2026 championship continues.
