Tyler Maxson delivered another standout weekend for TOPP Racing at Watkins Glen International, claiming a dominant victory in Race 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America and further extending his Pro class championship advantage. Maxson was the quickest driver throughout the event, topping qualifying to earn pole position for both races and setting the fastest lap in each, cementing his status as the clear benchmark in the 2026 title fight.

Race 1 unfolded as a tale of misfortune for Maxson despite his pace. Starting from pole, he led the field and was pulling away before a tire puncture forced him to pit under the worst possible circumstances, dropping him to a ninth-place finish. It was a result that belied his outright speed, but Maxson and the TOPP Racing squad put the setback firmly behind them heading into Sunday.

Race 2 was a very different story. Starting again from pole in the Apex Capital-branded #77 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Maxson converted his grid position into a wire-to-wire victory, leading from lights to flag and crossing the line to claim the top step of the podium. Combined with the fastest lap in each race, it was the kind of total performance that championship contenders are built on.

Maxson reflected on a weekend that showcased both the highs and the resilience required in a championship battle.

“The pace was there all weekend — pole, fastest laps in both races, leading Race 1 comfortably — so the puncture was a tough one to swallow. But that’s racing. We came back in Race 2, executed perfectly, and got the win we deserved. The team gave me a great car, and we’re leaving The Glen in a very strong position. We keep pushing.”

The Race 2 victory adds to what has been a stellar 2026 campaign for Maxson and TOPP Racing. Now with four wins on the season, including a sweep at Sebring and the come-from-behind victory at Miami, the team heads into the second half of the championship with their points lead intact and their confidence at a season high.
